The answer is that you should install your winter tires when it becomes consistently cold outside and by cold we need when the weather outside dips below 7° on a regular basis. In other words, mid to end of October is a great time to have your winter tires installed.

Your tires are still in good condition if the tread depth is at least 4.8 mm, while a tread depth that is less than 4.0 mm indicates that it is time to replace your winter tires as soon as possible.
